EIRS Embarks on Vehicle Documentation, Compliance Exercise

Chairman, Task Force on IGR, Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS,) Hon. John Inegbedion, says the revenue service will embark on a statewide motor/vehicle documentation compliance exercise from November 1, 2022.
Speaking through a press release, the chairman stated, "It is hereby announced for the information of the general public particularly motorists, that as part of strategic measures put in place to secure lives, properties, and ensure compliance by motorists, Edo State Government shall embark on a Statewide Motor/Vehicle Documentation Compliance Exercise beginning from 1st November, 2022.
"During the exercise, the EIRS, FRSC, VIOs, EDSTMA and Security Agencies shall be physically present on the roads, private and government motor, tricycle /motorcycle parks in order to give full effect to the exercise by ensuring motorists possess valid vehicle and driving documents."
Inegbedion stated that documents expected to be possessed by motorists include, "Valid vehicle license; driver's license; number plate; certificate of road worthiness; hackney carriage and vehicle insurance cover."
He encouraged motorists with expired licences and documents to update their papers through EIRS Offices closest to them across the state and desist from patronizing touts or non-government officials.
He affirmed, "For the avoidance of doubt, motorists found to be in contravention, shall be prosecuted on the spot in line with extant Road Traffic Laws."
