Interesting days lie ahead of Nigerians with pundits already wondering if the political cliché "Woman talk to woman, woman understand" would come to bear, based on the public call on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to apologise to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Mrs. Itohan Osahon Edokpolor, former Chairman, Ikpoba Okha Local Government of Edo State and notable leader of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Edo South, called out the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, asking her to apologise forthwith to the Senate President. She led a group of women in politics to the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists for a stopover visit.
Mrs. Edokpolor pointed out female senators like Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Senator Daisy Ehanire Danjuma amongst others whom she said stood their ground and never brought shame to the female folks with claims of sexual harassment during their time at the Nigerian senate.
She stated that whomsoever muscled up the female senator to carry out present acts should call her to order as the senate was not a place for "Selling groundnut and coconut" as the senate is meant for responsible men and women.
She told Senator Natasha to put up an apology in a bid to reduce her suspension instead of resorting to the use of blackmail on Akpabio and Nigeria in the process.
Responding, Chairman of Council, Mr. Festus Alenkhe told the protesters that they had come to the right place to lay their grouse as their message would be carried across to the listening ears of feuding parties.
