Moves to ban ASUU will fail – Osodeke

National President, ASUU, Professor           Emmanuel Osodeke

National President, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, has said the attempt by the federal government to give a jaded look to the union will fail. He said this during a goodwill message at the valedictory session of Vice Chancellor, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, Professor Ganiyu Olatunde as he officially stepped down from office.

The ASUU President vented against the backdrop of a lingering dispute and reprisal attempt by the federal government to curb the union through registration of an affiliate union in universities which ASUU frowned at. Notwithstanding, Osodeke insisted that the philosophy of the union is premised on aligning with a worthy cause for the progress of the country’s educational sector.

Osodeke took a jibe at the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, calling him a jester for  attempting to proscribe ASUU. He also berated the federal government for downplaying on ASUU’s achievements at setting qualitative and enduring standards in areas of infrastructural provisions and services.
