Edo Governorship Election: Engr. Ikhine To Reactivate Ojirami Dam, If...

Engr. Gideon Ikhine of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), has unveiled his plan to reactivate the moribund Ojerami Dam if elected.

At the stopover, he coaxed the people of Akoko Edo Local Government Area, "I am here to beg you to send me to Osadebey Avenue to give you qualitative representation that will transform the state into a destination of choice for foreign and local investors."

The Edo State 2024 governorship aspirant who is focused at growing the agricultural economy of the region opined that a reactivated Ojerami Dam would provide water for irrigation in addition to generating electricity to power small scale industries and businesses.

Interfacing with the people on the need to focus on the largely untapped agricultural base of the region at Igarra, the administrative headquarters of Akoko - Edo Local Government Area, Ikhine said the Ojirami cluster of businesses will pave way for the establishment of large scale mechanised farming in Akoko-Edo.

While soliciting for their votes he appealed to the people to stay "woke" by taking time to screen all the aspirants jostling for the top political job before taking decisions that could affect their lives in the next four years.

He agreed that not all aspirants were prepared for this political race, for many, he upheld, had no idea of the problems confronting Edo State. He however reassured the people, stating that he is the only aspirant that has carried out a detailed research on the challenges confronting the state.

He called on those currently yearning for good governance to avoid mistakes at this critical period, in development of the state.

He told the APC party faithful, "We want to rebuild the foundation of our children. We will empower the youths so that they have something to do. If you do not take yourself seriously no one will also take you serious. Any money you cannot create will destroy you."

Thinking aloud, Ikhine noted that it was easy to make the economy of the state stand out in Africa based on the fact that Akoko - Edo has the necessary resources to guarantee that.

He said his government would give prominence to the traditional stool for traditional rulers must be accorded their deserved respect. He promised to empower them to maintain continuous peace and security in their respective domains.

Thumping his chest, he observed,

"With all sense of sensibility I am the only one that can do the job. The task ahead requires a focused and serious minded personality to give you victory. It is either we want a functional government or dysfunctional government. My government will turn everyone that has disability to ability."

On a final note, Ikhine appealed to the people to work hard to make him governor to ensure they have a good story to tell at the end of his tenure. 

Incidentally, this one on one with members of the party at Igarra was meant to strengthen ties with the people as he solicits for their votes towards the forthcoming APC primaries scheduled for next month.
