Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Horatio Marquee, Edo Hotel premises, highlighted and commended Chief Mike Oghiadomhe for the exemplary display of loyalty to his political superiors just as he wished him more fruitful years during his 70th birthday celebration.
Voicing above goodwill on behalf of Governor Monday Okpebholo, Edo State deputy governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, pointed out that based on the array of personalities who came to identify with the celebrant it was obvious that Oghiadomhe left footprints on the political terrain.
Drawing strength from the eulogy of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Former President of Nigeria, whom the celebrant served under as "Chief of Staff" and Chief Lucky Igbinedion, former Governor of Edo State, whom he served under as "deputy governor," he said it became evident "Oghiadomhe has displayed the power of good relationship and show of uncommon loyalty to his principals."
Focussing on the Edo State perspective and the role of deputy governors, Idahosa posited, "The celebrant exhibited an uncommon form of loyalty. We are learning from you, and by the grace of God, we will improve upon it."
As politicians drawn from across political divides paid tributes and offered goodwill messages to the celebrant, Senator Adams Oshiomhole carved out time to thank Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for "Preaching the message that election is not war," which he opined, should "resonate with Nigerian politics."
Looking at the dynamics of politics vis-à-vis the role of public servants, Oshiomhole declared, "Governance is about managing people and resources and people are the most important resources to be managed."
He declared, "The work of a deputy governor is very difficult but Chief Lucky Igbinedion made it easy for Oghiadomhe by making provisions which made governance easy."
A host of Nigerian political bigwigs, Edo State political appointees, former Edo State Governors and deputies, traditional rulers and religious leaders, Edo State Chief Judge, friends, family and associates, the Class of Governors- "1999 set" and an array of other personalities were in attendance.
Some signatories stepped forward to wish the celebrant more years while others gave tributes and goodwill messages, amongst them were Dr. Osariemen Osunbor and Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
The septuagenarian celebrant,
Chief Mike Oghiadomhe later proceeded to cut his birthday cake. He thanked God for bringing him to witness the day just as he paid glowing tributes to all who turned up to make his birthday memorable.
